Peter Martin operates a painting and decorating business mainly servicing the south-eastern suburbs. In recent years Peter's company has diversified to include home maintenance and transport.

A long-time resident of Frankston, Peter has been a painter and decorator for 36 years. His community-mindedness has benefited the local Frankston community in a wide variety of ways. They include:

  • Helped organised fetes and other events to raise funds for the Frankston Hospital where he was awarded Life Governorship for his volunteer work.

  • Supervised and assisted painting the house of an elderly woman who was disadvantaged.

  • Maintains the building and garden of the Frankston Community Support and Information Centre.

  • Participated in the roadside collection for the Frankston Community Christmas Appeal.

  • Supervised and assisted painting the front exterior of Woorinyan, a service for adults with a disability.

  • Organised volunteers for the Frankston Swim which raised funds for disadvantaged families at Christmas time.

  • Loaned equipment to the Bayview Preschool for working bees. Painted signs for the group and set up the fundraising barbecue at Bunnings.

  • Sponsored a local footballer

  • Assists community groups to obtain donations of paint from manufacturers.

  • Utilises his business contacts to gain support for local community groups.
Peter said that he is very encouraged when he hears that other business people are also supporting their communities, but is concerned that many do not do anything.
