To meet the ever-growing needs of our community, Community Support Frankston is looking for volunteers to join their Interviewing Team. If you are interested in your community, like meeting and helping people, and would be willing to undertake training we would like to hear from you. Successful applicants will be required to complete an accredited 50 hour training course (see below).

Details: The agency is currently recruiting volunteers to interview local residents who contact the agency, either by phone or in person, for information, support and advice regarding social and emotional problems including counselling, crisis support and community development. Volunteer Interviewers must be understanding of people and their situations and accepting of other individual’s values and lifestyles. They also need to be outgoing with a friendly personality and have good communication, problem solving and listening skills.

ACCREDITED TRAINING COURSE: COMPETENCY CHCCS6B: Assess and deliver services to clients with complex needs This accredited Community Worker training for Interviewers course must be completed if working in an interview situation with a client. Volunteers are taught skills in interviewing, communication, providing information and basic counselling. Low cost training is available to selected interviewers.

After completing this course volunteers are required to attend ongoing training to update and improve their skills and keep them informed of current issues. Many of the organisation’s volunteer workers progress to further education and employment in welfare and other fields.

Marketing and Media volunteer
Community Support Frankston has moved into new premises and it is an exciting time to join our team. In this role you will have the freedom to creatively explore marketing strategies and work to implement them. This is a wonderful opportunity to harness your skills toward a meaningful cause and work with a positive and passionate team.

Details:  We are looking for a creative and strategic thinker who can use their experience and skills to assist us with branding and help raise awareness of our presence in Frankston through the following:

  • We are seeking to develop new strategic partnerships and initiatives with businesses, community groups and other organisations to expand our volunteer base, enhance our funding opportunities and raise awareness of our services.

  • We also wish to engage a broader cross section of our community through our 26th annual Community Appeal and are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of marketing and public relations to develop a marketing plan and clear strategies to promote and expand this Appeal.

  • This role will provide communication with the media. It may include traditional forms of media releases, stories, articles or information promoting the organisation in a positive manner. It may include social media such as facebook and twitter.

  • We do not need you to organise an event, but spread the word to encourage other organisations, businesses, schools and individuals to organise their own event which will benefit our Appeal either by fundraising or the donation of goods to help fill hampers.

Aims of this project are to:

  • Provide marketing advice and guidance to the Manager and Project Coordinator

  • Develop relationships and commitment with local businesses, groups, schools and organisations

  • Attract mentors and new volunteers to the agency

  • Use the agencies available resources and work with little or no budget

  • Build awareness of our organisation within the community by effectively connecting and communicating with local audiences

Time required: Minimum 3 hours per week. Hours are flexible and dependent on the current stage of the project.

Duration of project: Ongoing, with minimum 6 months commitment.

Applicants: Should be currently studing media, marketing or journalism or show previous experience and qualifications within the industry.
